Women Who Knew Jesus is designed so that readers become engaged in the experiences of all the women who encountered Jesus and with Jesus’ response to them. First-century mores barred women from interacting with men outside of their families; yet Jesus was unafraid to approach women, listen to them, heal them and affirm God’s love and acceptance of them. Often without a name, these women trusted, understood and valued Jesus much more than his male disciples. Each woman who met Jesus went away from his changed. The life of Jesus cannot be told accurately without the women who interacted with him. Readers are often surprised to discover how often their own stories are evoked by hearing theirs so that some of the women become role models for their own journeys of faith. Opportunities exist throughout the book for the reader to add her own reflections and insights.
